Profile
General:
Adopted by Gouken,
Ryu learned a toned down form of ansatsuken without the killing "touch".
However, when he nearly lost to Sagat he lost
control and unleashed it. After finally rejecting it, he's been travelling
and perfecting his non-lethal yet extremely powerful version of ansatsuken.
He's now believed to be practicing under the sennin, Oro.
Ryu focuses on his training, but has won a few friends and rivals like
Ken,
Chun-Li,
Sagat
and Sakura. When Ryu loses control of his inner
dark hadou, he transforms into Evil
Ryu.

Comment:
Ryu has been Capcom's
poster boy for Street Fighter since the debut in 1987. When we look at
his design now, we can only find so many that exceed him in terms of originality
and design, but don't forget, he was the original guy in a karate uniform
of video games (besides those karate champ guys). Ryu is the first real
"hero" of fighting games, and we can only compare "him" to others... He
is the most serious fighter of them all. And seeing his "unchanged" &
traditional style in today's fighting games and media is a true pleasure
to long time fighting game and martial artists alike. Don't mess with Ryu...
and definitely don't call him boring!!
