Street Fighter V: Champion Edition

At the CPT 2019 NA Regional Finals, Capcom announced Street Fighter V: Champion Edition and revealed the almighty Gill as the first new character of Season 4. Launching February 14th, 2020, SFV: Champion Edition will retail as a new package for $29.99 USD. The title will contain all SFV content to date, including 34 stages, 200+ costumes, 40 characters, and new V-Skills for all returning characters. SFV: CE will also be available for purchase as a digital upgrade to SFV: Arcade Edition for $24.99. In August 2020, Capcom revealed Season 5 will add Akira Kazama from Rival Schools, along with Dan Hibiki, Rose, Oro, and Eleven

Over 5 years later... 46 playable fighters!

Players will now have to option to choose a "V-Skill 2" for every character in Street Fighter V: Champion Edition. Each character's new V-Skill will change up their playstyles considerably when selected. To name a few V-Skill 2's: Urien now has his "Indignant Thunder" which resembles his super move projectile from SFIII: 2nd Impact / 3rd Strike. Birdie's V-Skill 2 is called "Chewing Time" which has him using bubble gum to blow a giant bubble at his opponents.

From Capcom: "Rule the ring with Street Fighter V: Champion Edition, the most robust version of the acclaimed fighting game! This new version includes all content (excluding Fighting Chance costumes, brand collaboration costumes and Capcom Pro Tour DLC) from both the original release and Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition. Champion Edition adds each character, stage and other content that released after Arcade Edition and with the release of this new version. In total: 40 characters, 34 stages, over 200 costumes Ė all action-packed into one knockout edition! READY? FIGHT!"

It's Third Strike y'all... Oro and turtle are here!

All game mode additions and balance updates are free for owners of any Street Fighter V version. Additionally, all DLC characters remain earnable completely free of charge through completing various in-game challenges and receiving earned in-game currency, called Fight Money. For those who canít wait, in-game content can be obtained instantly using real money. Certain additional content can only be acquired using Fight Money, which can be earned through normal gameplay.

First Impression: Another SFV update? Don't act surprised. Whether you're a fan of Capcom's direction with Street Fighter V, or not, you have to admit Capcom has put solid effort into keeping their trademark fighting franchise fresh and new in the latest incarnation. From its humble beginnings and rocky launch, SFV has certainly matured and improved as a game overall. Champion Edition is likely to be the definitive and final update to the Street Fighter V experience.

Most fighting game players should probably know by now whether or not SFV floats their boat. If you ask me... SFV is a solid game with an entertaining roster, and I still enjoyed it more than SF4. At a very affordable $30 (or less if you catch a good deal)... you can jump into SFV and enjoy all of the content that the game has to offer. TFG's full review of SFV:CE will be posted once all Season 5 characters are added to the game in November 2021.
