Review: Fatal Fury: First Contact is basically a "pocket-remix" of Real Bout Fatal Fury 2, featuring some of the same gameplay elements, characters, and backgrounds of the original game (while missing a few characters).... It's the second fighting game to be ported specifically for the Neo Geo Pocket, and sports some pretty good graphics with "chibi-style" sprites and rather decent artwork. The 2D gameplay feels a lot like Real Bout 2, and was a fun and simple handheld fighter at the time.

Closing Comment: First Contact shouldn't be missed by any fan of the Fatal Fury series... SNK did a good job of transforming the Real Bout cast into tiny, big-headed sprites, but still retaining nearly all of their moves and even personalities. The facial expressions during gameplay are priceless. If you own a Neo Geo Pocket, this is pretty much a must have title. It's not the deepest or most fun fighter on the system, but for nostalgia value, it's worth it. ~F.Yagami, Webmaster of TFG
