Kasumi is a true-bred female ninja of the "Mugen-Tenshin" style. In an attempt to settle her brother Hayate's old scores, she became a "runaway shinobi." Immediately after "Dead or Alive World Combat Championship," she was taken captive by the Super-human Development Project. While held captive, DOATEC created two clones of her, Kasumi Alpha and Alpha-152, in an effort to create the perfect fighter. Shiden is her father and Raidou is her uncle.

As one of the prominent heroines of the DOA series, Kasumi has built up a considerable fan base since her debut. Her original appearance wasn't very exciting, but she was nicely fleshed out in DOA2 in all aspects. In comparison to other fighting game females, she's definitely lacking in some areas. Her fighting style has its moments, but if you ask me, nothing about it truly stands out as "original" and it isn't well-defined. Her personality is also kind of bland. As with most DOA girls, her main draw seems to be her bouncy boobs and suggestive outfits. Also one thing I can't get past is her facial rendering... why does Kasumi have the face of a 12-year-old girl? *sigh* Either that's poor rendering on the dev-team's part, or they're just pervs. Finally, she's had some decent alternate outfits, but some pretty boring ones as well.
