Ryu
Hayabusa is the modern
super ninja and the best friend of Kasumi's
brother. Being a super ninja, he has the responsibility to confront Bankotsubo,
the Evil Tengu, who came from the dark world into human existence. to face
the Evil Tengu would be a suicidal act for any human being but Hayabusa
owes it to himself and to mankind to confront his fate. Hayabusa is also
the star of the video game series, Ninja Gaiden.

In both DOA1
& DOA2, it was pretty
epic to see
the original star of Ninja Gaiden re-imagined and appear in a next-gen 3D fighting game. His fighting game
incarnation in DOA is pretty cool for the most part. However, to be quite
honest, I've seen better,
more exciting fighting
game ninja designs.... wait, isn't it impossible to "see"
ninjas? Ha ha.
Heh. Cheap joke, I
know. >_>
In all honesty, Hayabusa's fighting style in the later of the DOA strikes me as
"mediocre," right along with his personality and modernized costume design. He acquired
a few cool
new moves over the years, but most of which I've seen other
fighting game ninjas perform better. Also, his "baby face" doesn't
really doesn't do much for his design. :/ The DOA designers
obviously spent too much time rendering soft-looking women, that they forgot to make
Hayabusa's face look even halfway tough. lol. While the next-gen
NG games are halfway decent, I don't find many of Hayabusa's animations
in those games to be very "ninja-like"... he does a few things kinda
sloppily, to be honest. While he's a cool design in some ways I think Ryu is slightly overrated as a design,
overall. Even in the retro NG
games, he was always a pretty generic ninja, but at least he has evolved in a
pretty cool way.
