Mortal Kombat II Movie Official Trailer, Sequel to Reboot Releasing October 24th

Today, Warner Bros. released the official trailer for the sequel to the 2021 Mortal Kombat reboot, Mortal Kombat II (taking direct inspirations from the game Mortal Kombat 2), coming to theaters on October 24th, 2025. The film, directed by Simon McQuoid, promises to deliver the brutal action and iconic characters that fans of the video game series would expect. The story will pick up where the first movie left off, delving into the Mortal Kombat tournament itself, with Earthrealm's champions facing off against the forces of Outworld. The fate of humanity hangs in the balance with Shao Kahn threatening to conquer Earth if his side wins.

The cast of Mortal Kombat 2 boasts a mix of returning favorites and exciting new additions. Karl Urban joins the cast as the fan-favorite Johnny Cage, promising to bring his signature charisma and action-hero persona to the role. Other notable cast members include Adeline Rudolph as Kitana, Tati Gabrielle as Jade, Martyn Ford as Shao Kahn, and Hiroyuki Sanada returning as Scorpion. Returning from the first film are Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano, and Ludi Lin as Liu Kang. The trailer showcases the inclusion of the actual Mortal Kombat tournament, which was missing from the first film.

The film is written by Jeremy Slater, and the production team is aiming to deliver a sequel that is bigger, bloodier, and more faithful to the source material. Keep it here on The Fighters Generation for continued coverage and more fighting game news.
