Warner Bros and NetherRealm Studios End Support for Mortal Kombat 1

On social media, Warner Bros. Games and NetherRealm Studios officially confirmed that support for Mortal Kombat 1 has come to an end — with guest character T-1000 (released back in March) being the final roster addition. An official tweet from May 23rd, 2025 reads: "We will continue to support Mortal Kombat 1 through balance adjustments and fixes, there will not be additional DLC characters or story chapters released from this point on." NRS also confirmed they are working on a new project and said the following on social media: "We understand this will be disappointing for fans, but our team at NetherRealm needs to shift focus to the next project in order to make it as great as we possibly can."

The first sign that MK1 support was ending was NetherRealm's recent announcement of Mortal Kombat 1: Definitive Edition
which contains all DLC characters from Kombat Pack 1 and 2, the Khaos Reigns story expansion, and premium skins.

Mortal Kombat 1: Definitive Edition is currently priced at $59.99 on Steam. NetherRealm Studios has not announced or hinted at what their next project is. As always, we'll keep you updated. Stay tuned on The Fighters Generation for more fighting game news.
