When
Kazuya was thrown off a cliff by his father, Heihachi,
the devil gene activated within him. Devil
appeared and offered Kazuya the ultimate power he needed to defeat his father
Heihachi, in exchange for his soul.
Kazuya,
driven by anger and revenge, accepted Devil's offer. Since Kazuya met Jun
Kazama,
another entity was created within Kazuya known as Angel which represented all
that was good within him. Angel
represents the "good" version of Kazuya's
Devil Gene. She fought to save
Kazuya's
soul from Devil, and failed.

Nice try Angel,
but you had no chance stopping the devil gene... it's the freakin' devil gene!!!
Heh. >;) Tekken's storyline is filled with hatred and "bad guys" as anti-heroes,
which is one of its defining elements. So it's understandable why
Angel didn't appear in many games. Nonetheless, she was an interesting contrast to
Devil in the earlier games., even though she was somewhat "generic" in
my eyes.
The Tekken series did fine without her for many years, but Namco went
all out in TTT2 and had to bring her back! Her new visual design is actually
really good if you ask me... Angel never looked hotter. While her moveset is
based on Devil Jin, she does have quite a few unique
moves & mannerisms. Thanks to her new look and new moves, her TFG rating has
finally risen a few points! :)
On a random but interesting side note... in one of Angel's Tekken 2 artworks (this
one), she's seen standing in a room with a checkered floor and a balcony.
This is interesting, because that environment looks strikingly similar to the
Fallen Colony stage from Tekken 6! ...Interesting huh?! (Don't forget you
heard it on TFG first!) Hehe. :)
