Slow Motion King of Fighters XIV Graphics Comparison Video with Version 1.10 Demo

With the new King of Fighters XIV demo releasing on PSN Japan, we now have a better understanding of what to expect from the upcoming Ver. 1.10 update (coming Jan. 11th). If you can't wait until then to see what the visual enhancements will be like, a Japanese Youtuber by the name of Sennan War has released four "slow motion" videos comparing the old version's graphics with the new.

SNK Developing Other Titles Besides KOF XIV, Planning Announcements for 2017

SNK has previously hinted that they are currently developing reboots of their classic fighting franchises, with KOF being the first series to receive such treatment. In a recent interview with 4Gamer, KOF XIV producer, Yasuyuki Oda, reaffirmed that SNK "is trying out and making all kinds of things". He added, "they have plenty more to announce in due order, and are working hard so they can have some kind of announcement in 2017".  (Sources: Siliconera, 4Gamer)

King of Fighters XIV Update 1.10 Demo Now Available on Japanese Playstation Network

SNK's King of Fighters XIV "Demo Ver. 2" featuring enhanced graphics is now live on the Japanese Playstation Network. (The demo also popped up on the North American PSN but was temporarily taken down for some reason - we'll keep you updated on that.) The new KOF XIV demo features 7 playable characters: Kyo, Iori, Terry, Leona, Yuri, Shun'ei & King of Dinosaurs (each with 2 new colors), and features Training, Versus & Tutorial modes.  (Source: Siliconera)

Free King of Fighters XIV Update Out Today, Version 1.10 Graphics Patch Releasing January 11th, 2017

KOF XIV's Producer, Yasuyuki Oda, announced and detailed the latest King of Fighters XIV update via Playstation Blog today. To celebrate the holidays, SNK has released Athena's KOF '98 costume and several original KOF PS4 themes today (for free)! This content is free to download on PS4 until January 22nd, 2017. Additionally, Oda announced that major update "Ver. 1.10" will arrive January 11th. He added that "more reveals are planned" in 2017.  (Source: PS. Blog)

Fu'un Combo Brings Savage Reign & Kizuna Encounter to Playstation 4 in North America

Sony and SNK are continuing their collaboration in bringing classic NeoGeo titles to PS4. The latest addition is, by far, the most obscure to date... Fu'un Super Combo, a previously Japan-only compilation featuring Savage Reign and Kizuna Encounter, is now available on PSN in North America for $14.99. The title is part of the "PS2 Import Classics" series, featuring Japanese in-game text only! Hopefully we'll see even more classic SNK fighters make their way to PS4!   (Source: PSN)

Tekken Revolution Ends Service on March 21st, 2017, Delisted From PSN January 21st

Originally released June 11th, 2013, the PS3 exclusive free-to-play TEKKEN Revolution will end its online services on March 21st, 2017. The game and all DLC content will be delisted from PSN on January 21st, but still playable up until March 21st. Presumably, this will coincide with TEKKEN 7's upcoming release in "Early 2017". This also could be your last chance to play as Eliza, the narcoleptic Vampire girl (unless she appears in TEKKEN 7, of course).  (Source: ATP, CensedSonic)

Street Fighter V Season 2 Arrives Today! Full Patch Notes & Balance Changes

Akuma joins Street Fighter V's roster tonight, officially kicking off Season 2 which will bring new content and 5 brand new characters in 2017. Additionally, a slew of system stages and character balance updates are being added to the game today. Updates include an improved Rage Quit System, Background Music Select for Training, Versus & Online Matches, and Direct Input Controller Support for SFV on Steam. Killer Instinct Kilgore Reveal & Gameplay, 3.6 Patch Notes Video, More New Characters Coming

Killer Instinct Season 3 will be receiving some major updates, including a brand new character named "Kilgore". Kilgore will be the first of several new characters coming to the title. Check out Kilgore's reveal trailer along with some gameplay footage, and see what's new in patch 3.6, which will be released today. New Build of Tekken 7 (Console) Shows Updated Select Screen, Lee Chaolan & Miguel Gameplay on New Stages

The TEKKEN community is getting hype about a "new build" of the console (PS4) version of TEKKEN 7, which was shown at Bandai Namco's Thank You Festival at KINTEX in South Korea. The new build features 2 new stages, Miguel and Lee Chaolan/Violet as playable characters, and is said to have improved graphics. There's also a short video clip showing Lee Chaolan's Rage Art for the first time (and it's pretty epic!). Also see the updated character select screen!

Athena Asamiya's Classic KOF '98 Costume is Coming Soon to King of Fighters XIV

SNK's Official Twitter Account (G-Mantle) announced that yet another classic costume is "coming soon" to The King of Fighters XIV. This time, Athena Asamiya gets her classic KOF '98 threads back, and apparently this classic costume will be "free" for a limited time. Developers From Earliest Marvel VS Capcom Titles Are Working on Marvel VS Capcom: Infinite

When a major sequel is announced for a "high profile" fighting game series such as Marvel VS Capcom, passionate fans can't help but be excited... but many will have skepticism if the new installment will live up to the originals. This latest bit of news about MVC: Infinite is definitely a good sign. Marvel Games' Mike Jones said "some of the original developers, that worked on the earliest Marvel fighting games at Capcom in Japan are working on MVC: Infinite."

Tekken 7: FR "Kiwami" Campaign Adds Customizations for Every Fighter, 70 New Screens

TEKKEN-Net revealed an update for TEKKEN 7: Fated Retribution titled the "Kiwami" Campaign (which means 'Ultimate'). This update brand new alternate (2-piece) outfits for 31 fighters in the game, "Arranged" default costumes featuring alternate color & texture patterns, plus other random customization items. Street Fighter V at The White House Gaming Event With Justin Wong, Gootecks, Mike Ross & Snake Eyez

The latest "must see" mod for the PC version of Street Fighter V has to be Juri's Legacy Costume based on her original Street Fighter IV appearance. Creator Brutal Ace put together a 3-minute video showcasing the costume's "nine" special features, such as: 4k textures, reanimated loose hairs, pink visual effects, and various color options.

Tekken 7 Collaboration with New Japan Pro Wrestling Features Champion Kazuchika Okada

In addition to Kuma, Panda, and Online Tournament mode, a collaboration between TEKKEN 7 and New Japan Pro Wrestling was also announced at the KOIF 2016 global finals! Kuma/Panda and Online Tournament Mode Confirmed for Tekken 7 Console Version

Following the conclusion of the King of Iron Fist 2016 Global Tournament Finals in Japan, Katsuhiro Harada took the stage to announce some TEKKEN 7 updates. Firstly, the Kuma and Panda reveal trailer was shown. The bears each have their own Rage Arts, and that "next-gen fur rendering" looks pretty cool too. Secondly, Online Tournament Mode was confirmed for the console version, featuring 8-player brackets with various options and prizes.

Bandai Namco Celebrates 20 Years of Soul Calibur Series With 20th Anniversary Trailer

On December 20th, 2017, it will be 20 years since the original Soul Blade hit the Playstation 1 in Japan. Even though the series hasn't seen a fresh installment since 2012, veteran fighting game players will never forget when Soul Calibur reigned as one of the most popular and respected titles of the genre. To celebrate the long-running series, Bandai Namco released this 20 year anniversary tribute video. Is this any indication that Soul Calibur 6 on the horizon? We can only hope.

Street Fighter V Akuma Nostalgia Costume Has "Shirtless" Variation with Code

Several costumes in Street Fighter V can be altered by holding certain buttons down before a fight begins. It's been confirmed that Akuma's classic / nostalgia costume will have an alteration of its own, with Akuma going shirtless after inputting the code. For past costumes, the code for the alteration has been "LP+MP+HP+LK and Hold Up"... [UPDATE] and it works the same way for Akuma. Check out the first video and screens of Akuma's nostalgia costume.

Capcom "Focused" on Reviving Classic Franchises

In a press release yesterday, Capcom declared that in addition to Marvel VS Capcom (Infinite), the company is "currently focused on reviving series that have not had new entries recently, or otherwise dormant IP." While this isn't exclusive to fighting game releases, this is certainly a new glimmer of hope for a revival of fan-favorite series such as Darkstalkers, Rival Schools, and Final Fight. Morrigan Aensland and Captain America Debut in Marvel VS Capcom: Infinite Extended Trailer

First seen on ESPN2's rebroadcast of Capcom Cup 2016, the extended gameplay trailer of Marvel VS Capcom: Infinite reveals Morrigan and Captain America as playable characters! Something to take note of, is that out of the 5 characters revealed so far... 4 of them appeared in the original Marvel VS Capcom. Certainly interesting. The extended trailer also shows off some additional gameplay with Ryu, Megaman, Iron Man & Captain Marvel.

Marvel VS Capcom: Infinite Gameplay & Cinematic Trailers, First Details!

The rumors were indeed true... Capcom announced Marvel VS Capcom: Infinite for Playstation 4, Xbox One and Steam and is set for a "Late 2017" release. In the cinematic teaser trailer, Ryu, Mega Man X, Iron Man and Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) are seen in action. MVC Infinite will be a 2 VS 2 fighting game and the gameplay will bring back "Infinity Stones" from 1995's Marvel Super Heroes. More details inside!

Ultimate MVC3 and Garou: Mark of The Wolves Now Available Playstation 4!

Alongside the reveal of Marvel VS Capcom: Infinite at Playstation Experience, Capcom announced an upgraded version of Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3 for Playstation 4, available today! The PS4 port includes enhanced 1080/60fps visuals and all DLC content. Ultimate MVC3 will hit Xbox One and Steam later on in March 2017. SFV Akuma Reveal Trailer, Artwork, Gameplay + Five New Character Silhouettes Shown!

At Playstation Experience '16, Capcom confirmed Akuma as Street Fighter V's first Season 2 DLC character. Along with showing off SFV Akuma's new look and playstyle, the reveal trailer also teases 5 new silhouettes for the 2017 Season Pass. The 2017 Character Pack releases on Dec. 20th for $29.99 and includes Akuma, 5 brand new fighters throughout 2017, Premium Battle Costumes with colors 3-10 unlocked, default costume colors 3-10 for each character, and a PS4 theme.

Street Fighter V Holiday Stage & Six Costumes Coming Soon, Playable at Playstation Experience

Capcom is giving Street Fighter V some holiday cheer with 6 unique Christmas costumes and even a stage to celebrate the holiday. These seasonal costumes will only be available until January 17th, 2017 and are priced at $3.99 each, while the the Holiday Stage costs $1.99 or 40,000 Fight Money (a bundle with everything will also be available for $19.99). The new content will debut in playable form at this weekend's Playstation Experience.

GGXrd -REVELATOR- Coming to Steam December 14th

Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- first hit arcades in August of 2015. The Playstation 4 and Playstation 3 exclusive console versions arrived back in June 2016. Arc System Works just announced a Steam version, set to launch on December 14th. ASW didn't note any differences for the Steam version. Like on PS4/PS3, DLC characters Dizzy, Kum Haehyun and Raven must be purchased separately to become playable (and Raven can be unlocked using in-game currency). (Source: Steam)

Marvel VS Capcom 4 To Be Announced at This Weekend's Playstation Experience, Says Polygon

While those "leaked" images of MVC4 proved to be fake (now admitted by the creator himself), the rumor of an impending MVC4 reveal burns brighter than ever. Polygon, a reputable gaming news site, claimed they have "multiple sources" telling them Capcom will unveil MVC4 at this weekend's PS Experience and the title is coming in 2017. King of Fighters XIV Update 1.10 Brings Graphical Overhaul, Playable at PlayStation Experience

SNK announced that The King of Fighters XIV will soon be updated to version 1.10, and the update will include a graphical overhaul to enhance the visuals yet again! Yoshinori Ono Says Street Fighter V Support is Planned up to 2020, Esports Presence a Priority

Famitsu recently sat down with Capcom's Yoshinori Ono and Tomoaki Ayano to talk Street Fighter V. In the interview, Ono reiterates Capcom plans to expand SFV well into the future, up until 2020 in fact. When asked about other Capcom titles besides SFV, Ono said he'd like to work on them but efforts are currently focused on solidifying their eSports presence with SFV.

Samurai Shodown 6 is Coming to Playstation 4 as "PS2 Classic" on Tuesday, November 22nd

Also known as Samurai Shodown Tenka, Samurai Shodown VI is the last 2D installment made in the series, originally released in 2005. Sony announced on Playstation Blog that Samurai Shodown 6 is the latest in their new "PS2 to PS4" remasters series. The classic 2D fighter hits PSN in North America on Tuesday, Nov. 22nd complete with trophy support. As a PS2 Classic, it won't have an online mode. (Sources: PS.Blog, SRK)

The King of Fighters XIV "Classic" Iori Yagami DLC Costume Gameplay Footage

Besides a couple of free balance patch updates, SNK hasn't released much in the way of DLC content for The King of Fighters XIV thus far. However, we may begin to see a trend in DLC support for KOF XIV in the near future... as new gameplay footage of a "classic" Iori Yagami DLC costume has surfaced (via KOF Online). There's no official word from SNK on when the costume will be released, but stay tuned.

Unused Virtua Fighter (1) Characters Discovered After 23 Years Through Data-Mining

A data-miner by the name of Jed Hudson apparently discovered several unused characters from the original release of Virtua Fighter. As we already know, "Siba" was a cancelled character in VF1, but it seems his original code has his name as "Majido". There's also an alternate version of Akira Yuki who looks like he could be an early Kazuya or Jin Kazama. And finally, there's "Jeff" who strongly resembles P. Jack.

Garou: Mark of the Wolves PS4 / Vita Trophy List

While SNK hasn't announced an official date for the Playstation 4 / PS Vita version of Garou: Mark of the Wolves, the full trophy list has surfaced on PSNProfiles hinting that the port will be arriving soon. Trophies in Garou: MOTW are earned by consecutive Multiplayer victories, completing Survival Mode, and clearing Arcade mode with any or all characters. Qanba's "Dragon" Arcade Stick For PS4, PS3 & PC Arrives This Holiday Season

Here's a preview of Qanba's new "Dragon" arcade stick for PS4, PS3 & PC. The Dragon features a unique opening top panel enabling easy access to the internals of the stick. The inside parts also have their own plastic covering for extra protection and organization. Tekken Producer Katsuhiro Harada Dreams of Rebooting Samurai Shodown Series

In an April 2016 interview with TecMundo Games, TEKKEN producer Katsuhiro Harada and designer Michael Murray were asked about their favorite fighting game franchises (outside of Bandai Namco titles). Harada's answer was SNK's Samurai Shodown, while Murray's was Garou: MOTW. Harada elaborated that he'd love to "buy the rights of Samurai Shodown characters" and work on a brand new installment with Bandai Namco.

Tekken 7 KOIF 2016 North America Finals Concluded, New Character Reveals Coming Soon

On Nov. 9th, the North American King of Iron Fist 2016 tournament concluded with top players taking home 1000's of dollars in cash. New "Skies of Honor" Stage Comes to Street Fighter V This Tuesday as DLC

Hot on the heels of the Akuma announcement, Capcom unveiled a brand new Street Fighter V stage called "Skies of Honor". This epic-looking stage has fighters battling it out on the wing of an airplane (which appears to be owned by Rashid). Akuma is Coming to Street Fighter V, First Playable at Playstation Experience in December

At the conclusion of the SFV finals at Red Bull Battle Grounds, Capcom dropped a teaser trailer for Akuma, confirming his long-awaited arrival to Street Fighter V. Akuma will first be playable at Playstation Experience in Anaheim (Dec. 3-4). The trailer also presents a new abandoned dojo stage, which we'll also likely see at PE '16. Also worth noting is the Kanji on Akuma's back is the same as Shin Akuma's from CVS2.

Chaos Code: New Sign of Catastrophe Coming to PS4 in Japan and Asia on Nov. 9th With Netplay

Chaos Code first released in arcades in late 2011 and was ported to PSN in Asia on Dec. 19th, 2012. It was localized on PS3 in North America on Sept. 3rd, 2013 but unfortunately ported without netplay. The updated version, Chaos Code: New Sign of Catastrophe, comes out on PS4 in Japan Nov. 9th for 1,980 yen (about $20). SNK Playmore Officially Changes to SNK Corporation on December 1st, 2016

It was previously reported that SNK Playmore would be dropping the "Playmore" label along with readopting their classic "The Future is Now" slogan. SNK just announced they will officially be known as "SNK Corporation" as of December 1st. According to SNK, this change marks a return to SNK's roots, signifying a "revival of SNK's pioneer spirit to offer long-time fans of SNK and newcomers entertainment of an even higher quality moving forward." Razer Announces Raiju Controller for Playstation 4

If you're a pad player and you like to have options, Razer just announced their brand new "Raiju" pad for PS4. This customizable pad packs some interesting features, such as audio controls for headset connectivity. The pad has 3 shoulder buttons and 2 extra buttons on the rear. While many SNK fans are anxiously awaiting the upcoming PS4 port of Garou: Mark of the Wolves, PS.Blog announced today that The King of Fighters '94 is coming to Playstation 4 on Oct. 27th (tomorrow). KOF '94 will be followed by Samurai Shodown, Fatal Fury, World Heroes, and other SNK classics before the end of 2016. These classic SNK titles are part of a new "Arcade Archives" series by Hamster. The King of Fighters XIV Ver. 1.03 Patch Notes

Tuesday evening, SNK released the 1.03 balance patch for the King of Fighters XIV. Early today, they revealed the full patch notes covering all the specific character and system changes. As expected, characters like Nakoruru and K' were nerfed significantly. The patch also fixes several online mode issues, trophy unlocking issues, and other bugs.

Persona 4 Arena Director Says He Wants to Make "Persona 5 Arena"

Released in 2008, Persona 4 was one of the most highly acclaimed JRPGs in recent times. The title spawned a PS Vita remake, a rhythm game, and of course... a proper fighting game series. With Persona 5 now out in Japan (and on the horizon for North America & Europe), one would expect a similar level of success for Atlus's new installment. With that said, P4A director Kazuhisa Wada already expressed interest in making a "Persona 5 Arena".

The King of Fighters XIV Coming to Arcades as NESiCAxLive 2 Launch Title

It's been about 2 months since King of Fighters XIV was released on PS4 in North America, Europe and Japan. SNK just confirmed King of Fighters XIV for arcades as an upcoming launch title for the NESiCAxLive 2 cabinet. Could this mean potential new characters for the arcade version (or future console DLC)? Native DualShock 4 Controller Support is Coming to Steam Courtesy of Valve

Currently, getting a PS4 controller to work with Steam games requires a workaround and the usage of iffy third party software. This will finally change with an upcoming update for Steam's controller API which will feature built in PS4 DualShock configurability. It was announced at Steam Dev Days that Valve will release a Steam update "adding full configurability" to DualShock 4!

At Barcelona Games World 2016, Bandai Namco dropped a new character reveal trailer for TEKKEN 7. The Spanish powerhouse street fighter, Miguel Caballero Rojo, makes his return in TEKKEN 7. Miguel's reveal trailer shows off some of Miguel's new moves, Rage Drive and Rage Art. Additionally, TEKKEN 7's newest stage (featured a balcony break) is also seen for the first time in motion! Susano'o Joins Blazblue: Central Fiction as Unlockable Character, First Gameplay Footage

Just after the release of Blazblue: Central Fiction in Japan, footage of a new "secret" character has appeared online. The behemoth known as Susano'o can be unlocked through completing the game's story mode. According to early reports, this new character is "Terumi's form as the wielder of the Susano'o unit". Take a look at the first gameplay videos of Susano'o showing off what this monster can do in Blazblue.

Toshimichi Mori Says There Won't Be an "Extend" Version of Blazblue: Central Fiction

This week's Famitsu has an interview with Blazblue creator, Toshimichi Mori, who confirmed that Blazblue: Central Fiction won't be getting an Extend sequel. He said the game's 1-player content and 30-hour story mode will keep fans busy for a long time. Mori also announced that he's now working on a brand new non-fighting game title. Blazblue: Central Fiction launches on Oct. 6th in Japan, Nov. 1st in North America and Nov. 4th in Europe. (Sources: Siliconera, Gematsu)

SFV Halloween Costumes & Stage Coming October 11th + Capcom Pro Tour Costume "Alterations"

Capcom is celebrating the season with Halloween costumes and a "Happy Halloween" stage in Street Fighter V. The new content will go on sale October 11th (only until Nov. 29th). Premium Halloween costumes will cost $3.99 each and the Halloween stage is $1.99 or 40K Fight Money. Here are official screenshots for the Halloween DLC. In addition, Capcom Pro Tour Costumes can now be altered with a secret code.
