Evolution 2005
Las Vegas, NV
August 12-14, 2005
Well,
it's the biggest and best fighting game tournament in the world... Evolution.
Being amongst the top players in the world was an honor and a privilege,
and I was in awe at some of the skill I was seeing across the board. The
Japanese and Korean players were amazing to say the least, and the top USA
players didn't
fail to impress either.

Well, I'll
just come out and say it... Neither Jet or I made it to
the finals in any game. We first got our asses handed to us in MvC2 (as
expected). Then
they called my name for CvS2 (even though I didn't sign up for it), and they
called Jet's name in Third Strike (even though he didn't sign up for it)...
So we said F*ck it, and gave it our best, but there were of course much better
players... Much better players that were there to win, so there was no competition really...
Yea,
we got owned.
But it matters not, because most of the time we were playing casually, and we definitely had some enjoyable casual matches in
many games! It was a blast.
. . .
Major
League Gaming.
.
Even
the famous "frag dolls" were there... I remember seeing them on TV.
She's my friend on myspace. Haha.
There's
a shot of Duc Do (The World Champ of MvC2) handling the MvC2 brackets.
That's
Jet standing on the chair in the white shirt... Haha.
.
Jet
playing some MvC2 with Duc looking on.
Jet
playing some X-men VS Street Fighter.
Me
VS some guy in SFA3 that was really good with A-ism Blanka... My A-ism
Mika gave him a few good matches tho.
Me
VS Duc Do in Samurai Shodown 2!!! And wouldn't you know, it was 1 to 1, and we didn't get to finish our match
because they decided to cut the power during the middle of it...
They had to use our TV for some other game!!!
How could they?!? It was such a good match. Genjuro VS Ukyo...
The
only other game me & Jet signed up for was Tekken 5, easily the game I was
most confident in, and we were both disqualified because we weren't there when
they called out names.
Disappointing?
Yes... but that's what you get when you mix two guys like us with Las Vegas
on a Friday night... We just couldn't wake up on time. Long story short,
we had a late night consisting of drinking, gambling, and Jet mingling
with some crazy girls (It was all his fault!)...
None the less, we had a really good time and that's all that matters...
Actually, we had the best time, I mean the BEST time!!!
Jet
did some artwork on the plane ride there... We also got in quite a few rounds of
Card Fighters Clash! Heh.
Evolution
also hosted the world premiere of Street Fighter: Generations, the
sequel to the popular Street Fighter Alpha anime. Of course, we missed
the premiere, mainly because they changed it from Friday night to Sunday
night and we had to fly back home Sunday night. Ohh well... But we did
grab a few posters (as seen above).
Jet
also scored a rare promo EVO Tekken Tag banner from the cool guy that runs
VGO Network... A sweet parting gift for getting owned in Tekken Tag.
Lucky mothafucka... Go ahead and unveil it... And take off that ridiculous
eye patch! (his evil eye was giving him some trouble).
That's
some bad ass shit right there... Jet has one red eye, just like Kazuya...
Muahaha!!! ~WebMaster
